THE EMPIRE.

CHARLES CHAPLIN AT THE "EMPIRE" TO-NIOIIT.

To-night and to-morrow night at The Empire the management will present ft special twin-star programme. First !in<f foremost is the ever-popular Charl'e Chnplin in (he famous Mutual wme(iy, "The Shopwalker," demonstrating shop-walking as it should lie walked; and in which our little Charlie invade? the domain of those frock-cnated, omnipotent fjoods of bargainland, and punctures their majestic dignity with his merry barbs of satire. Charlie's funniest? you ask. Weil, we'll leave it to yon—but- just imagine him as ft shopvalker amongst a lot of bargain-hunt-ins women and hen-peeked burnllerarrving husbands. The celebrated comedian has never done anything funn;er than this portrayal of a character t-i.nt is so familiar to everyone, and into which he has invented quite a number of new and original jokes. The dramatic portion of the, entertainment is eo'..ally attractive, the principal offering being the Triangle Fine Arts feature, '("Joint! Straight." V). W. CrifTith, who is generally conceded the world's greatest director of motion pictures, personally supervised the making of "Coins Straight." which unfolds n remarkable story of the upper and under worlds ot .New York, "fioing Straight" does not mean that a girl had fallen and is trying to make good in the commoner sense of the term. It is a great story of t, lard struggle made by two crooks to live down'their past in peace with their children. Norma Talmiulge is featured, end she does some of her best work yet pi educed for Triangles. There are othei fine subjects in support. Seats may be reserved at Collier's.
