BACKBLOCKS EDUCATION.
OPINION'S FROM OTHER BOARDS. In connection with the. difficulty of obtaining grants for educational facilities in the backblocks, the Taranaki Education Boatd recently circularised r.ther Education Boards asking for their co-operation in effecting some improvement, and at yesterday's meeting several replies were received. The Otago. Board is in sympathy with securing adequate facilities, but cannot say that it has much, if any, ground for complaint and does not feel itself In a position to actively support the resolution of protest. The Wellington Board was in entire ntu'ecment. that while there should lit. 110 Waste, there should be adequate provision for the nroper training of settlers en the outskirts of civilisation. The I board recognised the valuable work there brave men and women perfoimed for the country. The Auckland Board resolved to support Tarnnaki, in its attiude, whereas tlio Nelson Bosiril was to a limited extent in sympathy with the resolution, liut had been fortunate in having hnd t'ie Minister in '.he district on two occasions recently, and in nearly every instance where 1 matters were placed 'before him the Board's application had been complied with.
