THREATENED REPRISALS. -1 GERMAN AND FRENCH NOTES. Received Jan. 22, (1.30 p.m. Amsterdam, Jan. 21. _ Berlin, OfJhial,—A Nolo, wtih a timelimit, was recently ;ent to France, complaining of Germa nwar prisoners being quartered in the fire zone, and ing their withdrawal to at least uim» teen miles behind tlit firing line'', otherwise similar 'reprisals would lie applied. It was subsequently stated that, in consquence of the French ignoring the complaint, several thousand French prisoners were being similarly treated. A Paris' semi-official Note states that the French accepted the proposal before the official Note was issued, and that evidence existed that the Germ;i/is were prepared to carry out their threatened reprisals prior to transmitting the first complaint.
