Afrs. Cutlen mother of Mr. E. C. Cut ten. S.M., celebrated her 90th birthday last week at Duncitin. Mrs. Cntten who is still in good health, cnnic to New Zealand in IStS. Mr. A. J. Oiling, of Eltham, the retiring clerk of the Court, left by the mail train on Saturday for Lawrence, to take up his duties there as clerk ,of tho Lawrence Magistrate's Court. Miss Maida Hooker, of Flawera, received word that she has been ':uecsii'iil in passing her matriculation examination. Miss Hooker is to he >Oll- - on this success, especially as it follows upon her recent brilliant achievements in the Trinity College musical examination.
Mr. Edward Tinpey, of the ftrm oE Messrs p >. and E. Tingey, Wellington, W-anganui and T'almcrston, whose death as a result of a motoring accident was reported last week, was a, native of London, and wn-s sixty-six years of age. He entered into partnership With his brother, Sir. Richard Tingey, now of Wellington, as oil .ind color merchants in Wanfiiinm in ISfln. In 1880 the firm purchased the business carried on Wi Manners street, Wellington, by Mr. James McAlpinc, and Mv. Richwd Tin* j»-y went to Wellington to manage ft. Mr. Edward Tingey remaining in \\angnnui. The deceased was twice mar ried. T>y his first wife ho had thirteen children, some of whom arc now dead. There is one child by the second inr» riage. One of his sons is *t the front. .
