| IMPROVING THE BALLOT TO ALLOW MORE TIME I'OUR ADDITIONAL APPEAL BOARDS By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Tlie Minister of Defence stated to-day that the Government has decided to set up four moro military service boards in order to clear up a ccrtjin amount of congestion, which has arisen from 'the fact that the machinery for dealing with appeal? for exomption was not in perfect working ordci at the start. The Government has already set up two additional medical boards, and is going to set up two more. It was realised that there was not time between the ballot and the railing of men into camp to allow the appeals to be heard and to have the medical examinations and give the men reasonable time to put their affairs in order before leaving their employment ci giving up business. ' Tht Governme.it was therefore arranging a scheme wner.v by they n'ill get «wo mondiu, instead of only one as at present, oetween "the ballot and the calling up of the mon. The personnel ot the new boards has not been decided upon yet, oui, che Minister has; expressed the hope thai the 'jew boards will only be tcmpoiary, as although the next' ballot wiU be taken for two lots of men, it would merely be to put the Government into the convenient position of having two months instead of one between the ballot and going into camp.
