METROPOLITAN COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Metropolitan Committee was held last evening. Present: Messrs. 1.. A. Nolan (m the o'lair), C. M. Lcppcr O. W. Sole, W ( . Phillips, L. B. Webstei, E. F. Blunldl, W. T Iloolcham, W. C. Weston, F. Drbell; B. H. Chaney, Newton King, J. R. L. Stanford, and J. Gray. Apo'ogios were received from Messrs. A. Alexander, A. Good, S. Pitt, and J. Mi'Leod.
Fines in connection with Ilia T.J.C. Christmas Afoeting and the .SL-ntford New Year Meeting were approved. T.J.C. The Taranaid Joc'-ey Club Committee then met, all the above present with the exception of Messrs. Stanford and Gray. The report of the -lib-committee appointed to purchase the gold e:t'i to be competed foi 'in connection "»ith the Taranaki Cut 011 tfebrnarj 7 was received and adopted.
In connection with the arrangements for special trains for the February meeting, an endeavor was biting made to have a special train from Whangamomona. to connect with th-j Stratford train on Wednesday morning, returning on Thursday night. Transfers of four horses envied in the Fourth Taranaki Stakes were approved of. It was decided to "rant returned soldiers the same privileges .it tb. gates as were given it. the Christmas meeting. Returned soldiers are asked to apply to' the secretary Jor tickets, and ill doing so to discharges.
Four new members were eiected by ballot. *
The meeting decided to make minor alterations to the lawr gates, in order to obviate the congestion that occurred at the last meeting. Accounts amounting to .E27S l?s were passed for payment.
