PALMERSTON NORTH .APPEALS. By Telegraph.—Press Association, V. Imerston North, January 12. The Milihuy Service Hoard ommenccd its sittings here tliis morning. The appeals of Edward Charles White, farmer, Linton; iiarry Edward Denton, farmer, Okau; Nathnniel Burnet Jones, buttor-bcx maker. Feikling, and Henry \\illiaiu (Staeev, caterer, Feikling were dismissed. Wiliam Alfred Turner, butcher, Waitnna, appealed on the grounds of public interest and undue hardship. Some months ago he enlisted, but was rejected as unfit, and since then he had taken on obligations which he could not lightly east aside. The ease was held over for consideration. The appeal of Alfred Norman IPalmer, farmer, Raumiii, on the grounds of publie interest, undue hardship and religious objections, and that of Roy Gordon Forlong, farmer, Bunnythorpe, on religious objections alone, were dismissed. Both appellants .vero members of tli? Brethren. The chairman said it had been proved on several occasions that the doctrines of the Brethren were not opposed to war. Wilhelm Puklowski, dairy farmer, Wliakaronga, appealed on the ground of hardship and occupation. He had been married twice, the second marriage taking place six months ago. He thought of enlisting twelve .zionths ago, and saw a doctor, who said appellant had had pleurisy and would do more good lure than by enlisting. The appeaf was adjourned till the next sitting. Alfred Claud Galpin, sheep farmer, Marton, appealed on grounds -of public interest and undue hardship. Appellant wished an extension of time before neing called up. He was managing a big farm, but at the end of March his brothers would take over the management. The /equest was granted. William Henry Stephens, carpenter, Palmerston North, appealed on the grounds or. undue hardship and religious objections. His father was an invalid and his. mother was unable to take charge of his father alone. The case was adjourned sine die. The appeal of Geoffrey Tremainc, law clerk, was dismissed, but appellant was granted exemption till the end of April, provided he stayed in his present occupation. Robert James Fitzsimmons, Carnarvon, was granted two months' leave. Harry Olonzo Webberley appealed on grounds of public interest and undue hardship. He had enlisted before, but had not 'been called up. Since then 'he had married and built a house. The case was adjourned sine die. Eric Smith Badger, dairy and mixed farmer, Bulls, appealed on grounds of unflue hardship and religious objections. He stated that he and his brother-in-'.a\v farmed over 300 acres of dairying land, but 'his brother-in-law was not an experienced farmer, and there would bo no one to work the farm in appellant's absence. He was a Christian, and would have nothing to do with the killing of his fellow man. In answer to a question, witness said he would submit to the authority of the State, 'but would not obey it. He would submit as long as the State laws did not conflict with the laws of Rod. The Board reserved its decision till April 30, appellant to report to tho military authorities once a month. Robert Sutton, tailor, Palmerston North, appealed on the ground that he had been discharged from camp as medically unlit. The appeal was formally dismissed, appellant to go before the Medical Board, Harry I.uckman, butcher, Feilding, was granted leave until February 5.
