Since the time of the Kaiser's proclamation until December 111 sixteen hundred Poles had enlisted, whereof eleven hundred were found to Je medically unfit. Many invalids enlisted for the sake of the pay. The .Hermans boasted that 700,000 Poles would spring to arms.

The last evidence of Germany's continued efforts to raieo j Polish army is that 00 Russian, and Polish officers, prisoners in Germany, have been sent to Warsaw with a month's leave, at ';he end of which they will have the choice of joining the Polish army or returning to ihe prisoners' camp. The. German authorities banquettod them and declared they would be expected to influence ,-pirit of the people, who are displaying :io enthusiasm over the army scheme.
