OJIATA 1 . (From iin Occasional Correspondent). The holidays have passed off very well, the weather having been «1) that could be wished for, excep'ng a few windy days. I see by your report of the Education Board meeting that Miss Parlie, of Jnglewood, has been appointed pupil teacher in the Omata School. On Thursday, the -ZStli nit., a farewell social was tendered to Mr. Len. Hare in the Omata Hall on the eve of his departure with the 23rd Reinforcements. Although the function was hurriedly got up, there was a large attendance. -Dancing was indulged in to music supplied by Mr. Qold, extras being played by the Misses Hare and Doyle. During an interval a presentation was made of j a case of pipes by the chairman of the IPatriotic Committee (Mr. E. Bayley). Mr. Hare suitably responded. The supper arrangements were in tht capable hands of Mesdames Bayley, :iemow, Penwarden and Spenee. After supper the whole company joined in singing "For he's a jolly good fellow." A pleasant evening was brought to a close by the singing of 'Auld Lang Sync."
