A German official dispatch says: The enemy is tenaciously defending the valleys of the Kercozk 'mountains into tlie Moldavian Plain. We are step liy step advancing. Wo stormed positions on lioih sides of the Casino and Susita valleys. We have reached the Putna sector, the enemy holding a new position on the opposite bank. We drove back the Russians to the Crangeni-Kan-csti line and stormed Garleaska. Yesterday's captures now number 5400 men and throe guns.
HORRIBLE ATROCITIES. COMMITTED BY THE ENEMY. ROUMANIAN GOVERNMENT PROTESTS TO NEUTRALS, Received Jan. 10, II.TO p.m. Washington. Jan. 10. The Roumanian Government lias protested to neutrals against Germany's violation of all laws of war. The protest alleges that horrible atrocities were committed against Hie Roumanian troops and population in Dobrudja. It asserts that German aviators in Bucharest and elsewhere bombed hundreds of innocent victims, including 200 women and children, also invalids and cripples. Fifty - eight bombs were thrown upon hospitals and almshouses. Several'acts were occurring' daily in different towns, and the protest urges neutrals to insist upon the observance of the principles of justice and humanity. ROUMANIANS FALL BACK. London, Jan. !). A Russian official dispatch says: We defeated attacks south of the Oituz river. The Roumanians fell back six versts west of Monastir and Kachineul, on the Kasino river. We took new positions on the line of the Piitna-Scrolh rivers.
GRAIN CAPTURED AT BRAI'LA. (R.euter Service.) Received Jan. 10, 5.30 p.m. Amsterdam, Jan. D. German correspondents claim that 300 waggon-loads of gram were captured at Tiraiia. They .confirm the destruction of factories, but state that most of the population are remaining. KING FERDINAND MISSING. BULGARIANS ANNOYED. " \ I Rome, Jan. 0. II Giorno's Zurich correspondent says the absence of King Ferdinand, who has not been at Sofia since Eiench aeroplanes bombed the ltoyal Palace, causes annoyance. He is said to have taken up hi.? residence in Austria. Despite constant reports he has not visited the army for many months. ■ ——_^
