Haymaking is in full swinpi and good harvests are reported. The farmers who have their hay in >vou!d welcome a few hours of rain for turnips, grass, etc., are in need of it. Cheese suppliers arc rejoicing over the price fixed jor cheese, f.o.b. A decent price, eh! A large mail is expected .','oni the front and one arid all are eagerly awaiting a budget of news. Tarik: was very busy last Sunday collecting picnickers to go to Mr. Smith's hush for the day. It. is a perfect place for a picnic, the Manganui and the bush b-ing beautiful. There was nearly an accident. Mr. Edeoe. whilst in bathing swam from ore. side to the other and on trying to climb the bank it gave way, and Mr. Brk-oe was thrown backwards into the witter, and palled for help. Messrs Kerr ar.d Ev.dkin went in and brought him ashore little the worse for his misadventure.

Presentations wire made and supper handed round, after dancing was indulged in. Lance-Corporal Oladding also received a farewell at Mr. Sumner's residence, and a very enjoyable evening n-as spentA wristlet wate'n was to i.ave been presented to him from the Rettlcre> of the lioss and Xgara roads, but owing to it not reaching here in time, Mr. Summers made the presentation at the public farcwdl.
