OPUNAKE.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) A painfully sudden death took place on Saturday afternoon at Opun. Mrs. Woolford, wife of Mr. C. A. Woolford, of Te Kiri, was visiting friends on the Opua road op Saturday afternoon and was accompanied by her sister, Miss Willcock. On the return homewards, when near Mr. J. Feaver, jnr's., place. Mrs. Woolford suddenly collapsed and expired when assisted into Mr. Fearer's residence. Medical aid was summoned,' immediately but Dr. Barron pronounce life extinct. Much sympathy is expressed for Mr. Woolford and! family. Deceased was a daughter m Mr. and Mrs. Willcock, late of Opua road,, and well known in the Manawatu and Taranaki districts. There was very little business transacted at the Harbor Board meeting on Thursday. The chairman was absent, and Mr. R. Malcolm was appointed chairman for the meeting. Oilier members present were. Messrs. R. "uambie, A. H. Mcore, C. Woolford. Thj business discussed was the erosion of the Waiau river on the Board's reserve. It was decided to write to the 'laranaki Education Board suggesting that the Board obtain the services of a Government engineer to report. The Education Board have a reserve adjoining that of the hifrbor reserve, which is also affected bv the scour of the Waiau river. The loan proposals in connection with the raising of £50,000 by means of debentures will be issued as soon as the solicitors (Messrs Dal/,iel, Findlay and Co.) have prepared the necessary doeu- j nicnts. The loan will be taken in tho slack part of the dairy season. Mr. V. Walshc. of Opua, has sold his farm to Mr. G. Feaver, yet some Taramiki papers tell us that aggregation is not going on in this district.
