A SHOOTING AFFRAY.

By Telegraph.—Press Association. Marton, Jan. 8. ■ A shooting alTray took place at Marton Junction early on Sunday morning. Robert Elder attempted to enter Stephen Fisher's residence, a returned soldier. Failing in this he was walking away when it is alleged Fisher fired several bullets from a Winchester rifle, one of which struck a book in Elder's liip pocket, inflicting a flesh wound. Another bullet struck Elder on the right ribs. Elder was taken to Wangamii Hospital, but no serious complications are anticipated. Fisher was arrested and charged with discharging firearms with.intent to do bodily harm. He was remanded till January 15. bail being allowed on his oivn recognisance for £SQ and one surety for £2OO.
