TARANAKI RAILWAYMEN.
A SERIES OF RESOLUTIONS. A large and enthusiastic meeting, representative of all grades of the railway service, was held on the 7th inst., when the following resolutions were adopted: That tins combined meeting of railwaymen trusts no peace proposals will bo agreed upon with the Central Powers that do not secure complete liberation of and total reparation to our allies, and further secure the destruction of Prussian militarism. That this meeting favors immediate steps being taken to organise, and bring under the control of the State, all the means of production and distribution of foodstuffs and other necessaries of life, and thus the elimination of private profit would pave the way for the whole weight of the Dominion beii;:' used to assist in bringing the war to a successful issue.
That the.authorities be strongly urged to increase the allowances to the dependents of those who are now. and will become, members of the Expeditionary Forces.
That, in view of all the circumstances, this meeting considers the infliction /of twelve months' hard labor on E. Semple and others was excessive, and that the Government be urged to review the matter with a view to mitigation.
