JAPANESE STEAMER WRECKED.
GREAT LOSS OF LIFE nstralian Cable Association Received Jan. 4, 7.10 p.m. Shanghai, .lan, 3. The Japanese steamer Hakaka Maru was wrecked in a blizzard at Chefoo. Owing to tiie terrible seas, those of the crew and passengers who escaped drowning were marooned for three days. Then Captain Stampe, of the Netherlands harbor works, with number of Chinese, in a tug, gallantly rescued fifty out of four hundred.
