ASSISTANT-MASTERS CONFERENCE j By Tulegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, January 2. At a conference of the Dominion representatives af the Assistant-Masters Association the following officers were elected: —President, E. H. Ballachev (Wellington); vice-presidents, 11. W. Crawford (Auckland), R. Malcolm (Christchureh); secretary, B. T. Blake; members ex official, B. Kean (Wellington), W. F. Abel (Otago), J. H. Harvey (Waihi), A. Lake (Gisbonie). The conference decided to forward the following subjects to branch associations for discussion during the year: — Reduction in size of schools and fixing the maximum at 000, no class to exceed 40 pupils; elimination from the syllabus of unimportant subjects; increase of widows' allowance- under the Superanimation Act to £52 per annum.
