MAHOE (From On! Own Correspondent.) On Fridy night a farewell social and dance was given to Troopers Her>.„ Kemp and Arthur Scott, who were upon their final leave. A largie crowd assembled. Trooper Seott has two brothers gone, one being wounded, ami the other, Ernest, returning home shortly. The chairman (Mr. Rheece Anderson) called upon them to accept a wristlet wateh as a token from the Malior. people, hoping they would return back safe and sound, like one of our local boys (Reggie Barleyman) and wished them God speed. They suitably responded, and the singing of "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow" ensued. The chairman then called upon Mr. Reggie Barieyman, a returned trooper, invalided home from the front, to say :i few words, but Trooper Barleyman said all he could say was that a lot more l.c-re should go and' help their fellow brothers who were sacrificing their lives j for them all. Songs were sung during the evening by Miss Coates and Mr. ; Penwarden, two recitations were given by Mr. A. Bulmer, which'were enjoyed very much. A splendid supper was handed round by the ladies, special credit being due to Misses Fenwarden, Townsend, Brown and Whittington. Dancing was indulged in till midnight, the music being supplied by Misses Riley, Cumberworth, Coates and Maindonaid and Mr. Steiner. Tenwarden, Thomas and Barleyman. The duties of MC. were carried out bv Messrs. Barleyman and Riley. Special thanks must be given to the committee for the way they worked to make the social a success on such short notice.
