SUCCESSFUL ITALIAN OPERATIONS London, Jan. 1. The Daily Telegraph's Milan correspondent says that the Italian Chief Command, reviewing the past five months' operations, says Ihe Austrian fighting is entirely defensive. They have suffered three signal defeats in. the Carso and at Gorizia, and have lost 42,000 prisoners, 60 cannon, 2flo< machine-guns, and a large an:ount of material. Italian operations in the mountain regions have everywhere bc>".n successful.
