Mr. 0. C. JTuUon, of Wanganui, is visiting New I'lymouth. Dr. Gordon MaeDiarmid, of Taihape. is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. N K. MaeDiarmid, New Plymouth. Mr. Herbert Nicholson, of Maryborough, Queensland, is visiting his relatives in New Plymouth. The Wanganui 'Presbytery lias sustained a call from St. Andrew's Clmreh, Wanganui, to the Rev. David Campbell, of Kiversdale. Dr. Y\\ Kerr-Hislop, formerly of Inglewood, now of Foxton, lias been appointed medical superintendent of till Wanganui Hospital. Mr. Frank Rhodes, solicitor, who had been a resident of Rotorua for sixteen years, died on Tuesday night, after a very long illness. His age was jt. Mr. T. llustwiek, formerly Government Analytical Chemist, passed away at Wellington .011 Saturday, after*a protracted illness, in his SOtli year. Amongst tho promotions recently announced was that of an old Stratford boy, Lieutenant L. M. Liardet, to bo captain (dated September 24, 1910 j since killed in action). A well-known figure in Wellington shipping circles, Captain James Jones, for many years skipper of the Duchess and other harbor ferry steamers, died in the hospital, where he had been lying for some time, suffering from a paralytic seizure.
