A SERIOUS ASSAULT. By Telegraph.—Pres3 Association. Westport, December 20. Walter Thorpe was arrested at Ngakawau on a charge of assaulting, with serious intent, Patrick O'Connor, whom, it is alleged, he stabbed with a knife on Saturday evening,, inflicting serious wounds in the chest and face. OConlior was taken to the hospital. Tliarpe appeared before the Court to-day .and was remanded to January 3. NEWS OF THE AURORA. Napier, December 2G. Dr. McNab lias received the following wireless message from Captain Davis, of the Aurora:—"Cape Saunders, bearing north, ten west, 702 miles, noon Christmas Day; all well."
