STRATFORD.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) 1 Stratford, Dec. 22. At the meeting of the Loval Stratford Lodge, 1.0.0.F.. M.U., P.G.M. : s jewels were presented to P.G.'s Bros. ,). H. Harston and S. Thompson. The'presentations were made by P.P.G.M. Bro. C. Sole, who expressed the lodge's appreciation of the work done by the brothers mentioned. Both had been interested in lodge matters for many years, and thoroughly deserved the recognition made. The recipients suitably acknowledged the gifts. Adjutant Cook, who has controlled the services of the Salvation Army bore during the past two. years, expects to receive bis: marching orders at any time now

Efforts are being .made to secure a visit from Eltham of the Boys' Home entertainers. The boys were here some months ago. and if Adjutant Scotney can be prevailed to have them here shortly he can rely on receiving whole-hearted support from the public. Feathers were flying to-day. A num-bc-i of high quality geese from Mr. >.(i wards' farm, Stratford, were unloaded at Mr. Lamason's mart, and should elicit keen competition at the mart sale toniorrow (Saturday). The- Toko train to Stratford to-day was well patronised, and for a few minutes the stream of people from the railway Ration betokened a picnic party. Stratford business people report trade as very good up to the present. Khaki is very much in evidence, the Bioadway being patronised by many soldiers of the King up for Christinas and final leave.

' Eight pupils of the Stratford Convenl School were successful in obtaining proficiency certificates in Standard VI examination recently. The scholars were; Eileen Kilbride (dux), Eileen Kelleher, Mabel Geraghty, E. Harrington, F. Qnayle. Evelyn Sullivan, Olga Taylor, Isabel Kirkwood.

A lady was heard to remark that she was bewildered, and did not know what to buy for Christmas. Then she became wise, and accomplished her shopping with pleasure and ease. There was no mystery about it. She merely saw C. E. James' fancy goods shop, and her worries ceased.*
