SERIOUS FIRE IN WELLINGTON. Wellington. Dee. 20. A fire which (lid HIT ions damage to the establishment of A. Lindsay, Ltd., boot I'.auufactnrers, Lambton Quay, broke cut this morning. The insurances were: ' n the building (owned by Alfred Lindsay), £4OOO in the Norwich Union; :n the stock belonging tc Lindsay, Ltd., .£(>4oo in the Norwich Union, ,£IOOO in the Sun, and £ooo in the Victoria offces; Fairchild, dentit, stock .£7OO in 'lie Liverpool, London, and Globe; Levin, v.ho was carrying on Faireliild's practice, lad his own stock insured in the South Pritish office for £2OO. A. Paterson, fading as McGregor, Wright & Co., artists, was a heavy loser, having no insurance. DEPARTURE OF THE AURORA. Dunedin, Dec. 20. Without ceremony, the Aurora cast oft from the Poj't Chalnier. wharf at P o'clock this morning and left nn her ionrney to the Ross Sen. The. Hon. Dr. McNab was present. As the vessel left h-'arty cheers were exchanged between those on board and the spectators.
