In answer to a question hy Mr. 1!. Lawrence, Mr. Hartley stated that the ■present plant was quite sufficient to run another lino when it was required. The Mayor was satisfied that the purchasing of the system at the present time would be a paying proposition, and pointed out that if the scheme were turned down at the poll on Friday, and in alter years it was decided to go to the .poll * again, a considerably higher price thi(.n the £O'SOO now asked would be required. Mr. W. Jenkins proposed a vote of thanks to the Mayor for the clear way in which he had dealt with the subject. The Mayor, replying, said the best way of showing their thanks was hy doing their utmost to get the poll carried bv a large majority, an expression of opinion that was received with applause. Among other strong protests in regard to the wool question, the following telegram has been sent to the ActingPrime Minister: —"Waitara Chamber of Commerce has received complaint of scandalous delay in gazetting Waitara a wool-grading port.
