TARANAKI JOCKEY CLUB.
MEETIXG OP DISTRICT COMMITTEE. A meeting of the District Committee of the Taranaki Jockey Cl'ib was held last evening. Mr. L. A. Nolan presided, and others present were:—"Messrs. C. M. Lepper, W. Weston, W Phillips, L. B. Webster, 0. W. Sole, J. MeLeod, A. Alexander, J. Stanford, B. 11 Chancy, W. Hookham. K. 1". Blundell, and F. Orbell. Apologies were received from Messrs. J. Grey and X. King The following gentleman riders' certificates were granted:—G. Appleyard, P. I!. Shield, W. Cleaver, J. .1. Barry, J. T. Wade, T. L. Paget, E. W. Webb,' J. Ed•win, T. Ci. Jones, Folic Tito, and 11. Weston. GEXERAL COMMITTEE. . The Taranaki Jockey. Club met substquently, all being present except Mr. Stanford. ft was decided to donate £lO to the Overseas Tobacco Fund. The club agreed to admit free all soldiers in uniform to thc : r December meeting, and to give free passes to all returned soldiers making application to the secretary, and producing their certificate of discharge. One member was elected, and three prospective members were nominated. The committee decided to give a gold cup, valued at 53 guineas, for the Taranaki Jockey Club's Cup Handicap at the February meeting, and a small sub-committee was appointed to make the purchase. Mr. J. C. Paterson, of Wanganui, was appointed deputy stipendiary steward. Accounts amounting to £32 19s were passed for payment.
