BOXING CHAMPIONSHIPS. # The annual boxing championships 111 connection with the" New Plymouth Boys' High School were held ill the! Preparatory department yeatcrd»j| iiftenioon, in the presence of the master* anil boys. In most of the bouts,; laitj boxing was.exhibited, and considerably excitement prevailed. The contests coai sisted of three rounds each. In the senior championship, Kidd belti McKay, and Bayly beat Bryce.. TanpeVi beat Wybom. Kidd retired, and in ths final Tansey and Bayly met. TanMjj outpointed Bayly, and sent hlltt to tlw ropes again and again, Bayly got>fcoms with numerous body hits, but Tansey'a longer arms and heavier Mows gave liim a decided advantage. !Aa a boxing, contest -She standard observed in tha fmal of the senior championship was not high, and was more or less a slogging bout. Victory went to Tansey. ■ McMurray won the junior champion" ship, liia adversary 'being Henaon. This was an interesting encounter, in which the boys fought willingly. Callander beat. Ducker in llie under fl-stone championship, having slightly the best of the bout right tlrrougli. In the Train v. O'Halloran contest,for the under 8-stone championship, O'ITaK lorun was declared the winner. In tlw under 7-stonc .'liampionaMp, Zinsli beat Mackay, and afterwards vanquished Walter. The boxing in tlia: latter contest was a good exhibition. Candy annexed the under fl-stono championship, beating Jones, tho winV Her of the J'ones v. Webster bout. Jackson boat Robinson in the under 5-stone championship. The winners of the respective championships were: Tansey, McMurray, Callander, O'Halloran, Zinsli, Candy, au4 Jackson.
