GERMAN PATROLS BEATEN OFF. OFFICIAL (X>MMCOTQIIES. ■Received Dec. 14, 11 p.m. General Sir Douglas Haig reports:— Patrols endeavoring to enter our trenches eastward of Armentieres were ilriven off. We bombarded the trenches in the neighborhood of Festubert, Neuvc Chappelle, and Ypres,' ■ Paris, Dec. 14. The official communique states:— There is vigorous enemy. artillerying, in the Biaches, La Maisonette, and Barleux sectors. A coup de main against a salient north of Four de Pat-is, in the Argonne, enabled us to destroy mineivorks and capture prisoners. ' A~OT MUCH/ DOING. London, December 13. A French communique says:—There is comparative calm on the whole of the West front.
