THE POPE'S DIPLOMACY. ' New York, Dec. 7. The Rome correspondent of tUie New York Times says that the 'Pope's allocution to the secret Consistory was so couched as to convey impartial reprobation of all violations by the belligerents of human and divine laws. It made, direct reference to the deportation of ; Belgians as a war measure unprcce- j dented in the history of civilised nations. ■- ITALY DETERMINED. Rome Dec. 7. Signor Bosseli, at the re-opening of the Chamber, said the whole country was now working at the production of munitions. The Hups were well provided with these materials. Regarding the Adriatic, it had been decided, in conjunction with tiie Allies, that Italy's sphere of influence should assure the triumph of her nationality on the other side of the sea. Valona would be the jumping-off point of Italy's future commercial expansion. The financial position was favorable, and the Government would be able to maintain the public credit until victory was secured. The Chamber, by an overwhelming majority, accepted Signor Bosseii's motion to shelve for six months a Socialist pacifist resolution Signor Bosseli was urgent in his request that the Chamber should do nothing to suggest that Italy was not heartily supporting the Allies.
