STRATFORD.

GENERAL. (From Our Own Correspondent). December 7. At the conclusion of the entertainment at tile Town Hall on Wednesday, the Mayor (Mr. J. W. Boon) thanked the performers for their assistance on behalf of the Wounded Soldiers' Fund. Refreshments were provided the visitors by the Ladies' 'Patriotic Committee. The wool-shearing classes now being conducted by Messrs. E. Browne and Sergei, agricultural instructors, at Hawera, are being attended by several boys from tlie Stratford School. Warm, soaking rain has been falling to-day. Around Tariki, judging from appearances, the fall 'has been continuous. T. LAMASON'S WEEKLY REPORT. Last Saturday our usual weekly sale was held, but owing to it heing ShowWeek only a small entry of poultry, produce, etc., came to hand. We quote as follows:—Hens Is 9d to 2s Od, ducks 2s to 2s fid, geese 3s Od, 4s; hens and chicks, Is eac-h for chicks; furniture and .sundries at usual auction rates. Particulars are advertised of the goods to be sold by auction at Lamason's Mart to-morrow. Some Stratford folk know, but it is only right that all should know, that we have in our midst one of the most up-to-date jewellery and fancy goods shops in Mr. C. E. James' premises. Call this week, and note the sterling value lie is offering in birthday, farewell, and Christmas gifts.*
