GIRLS' FRIENDLY SOCIETY.

The annual meeting of the New Plymouth branch of the Girls' Friendly Society was held in the club-room, when the year's report and balance-. sl'Pf-t were read and confirmed. IV following officers for the coming vr were elected:—'President, iJrs. Colvi'e; vice-president, Miss Curtis; secretin-, Miss Percy-Smith; treasurer, Miss Mc'Kellar. The club-room committee is to consist of officers, ex officio, and two ether members of the Council. An additional sum of money was voted to the Matron Fund, the year being a better one than usual, though no entertainment was held. A further gift .of bandages, etc., was voted to the Melanesian Mission, and the sum of £3 is to be sent to our Link Branch of St. Saviour's, London. A vote of thanks was passed to Mrs. Rattray for acting as our representative on the Diocesan Council, and she was re-elected. A vote of thanks was also passed to Mr. Cottier for auditing the accounts.

The secretary reported that the associates numbered 54; —38 lion, associates and lfl working associates. The members numbered Two members had retired, and seven had married. The club-house "had been freely used, the number attending the luncheon hour having been doubled. It was not. necessary, the secretary said, to be a member of the G.F.S. to make use of the club-room. Any girl paying her clubroom subscription of Is per quarter could get her cup of tea for Id, otherwise it wa Girls of any denomination could .ffm the G.F.S. for luncheon hour.
