WAITARA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) December 2. The ladies of the Presbyterian Church formed themselves into a sewing guild some time ago to make up goods for sale at their annual sale of worn. This sale took place at the Clifton [Tali 011 Thursday'afternoon, and was responded to by a good nv.riber of Waitara p.v.jpie, together with visitors frojn the surrounding country districts, fhe Udies in charge of the stalls reported doing good business, and, as usual, the sweeps, refreshments, and afternoon tea 1 departments were kept very bu;y. A concert given in the evening brought an enjoyable day to a close, and the Kncx Church will benefit by the proCr.oJ'ngs to the extent of £35, which is considered very satisfactory. Next Thursday the Red Cross and tadies' Patriotic Guild arc holding a concert in St. John's llail .11 aid of tber funds. The programni" will be one of the best put before th" people of Waitara, the concluding item being an amusing farce by Jie local "Sunflowers." This, I understand, will be the farewell appearam's of two of cur 'ocal talent—Cony Whyte and Fred. Stanford, who are leaving Waitara ill the near future.
