MINERS' STRIKES
NAVY ABSORBS COAL OUTPUT. Australian-N.Z. Cable Association. Melbourne, Dec. 1. The Navy Department continues to control the coal'and power supplies, and it is not probable that unexempted industries will receive supplies for some time. FRONT AND BACK SHIFT 5 ABOLISHED. Sydney, Dec. 1. Tho strike settlement includes the abolition o? the front and back shift, system. RESTRICTIONS GRADUALLY LIFTED. WORK COMMENCES TO-DAY. Sydney, Last Night. Although the greatest satisfaction is expressed at the coal dispute being settled, several days must elapse before the conditions are normal. Light and power restrictions are being lifted gradually. Factories will be permitted" to resume on Monday. The Navy Department is acting cautiously. No relaxation is expected until the 7th, when the proclamation expires. Shipping requirements will be met after the transports and public utilities are supplied. The tribunal sat in camera, and advanced a further stage. It is anticipated the new conditions will increase the price of coal from 2s to 3s per ton.
