THE CHEESE POSITION.
IMPERIAL GOVERNMENT'S TERMS. CONCERN IN WELLINGTON.
(By Wire.—Own Correspondent.) Wellington, Last Night. The Government has not yet received any official information regarding the commandeering of New Zealand cheese by the Imperial authorities. Local business houses also lack information, but there are indication.? that the price paid in the United Kingdom will he about Cos, Bd. per ewt., or per pound. If tlmt proves to be the case, factories are likely to receive B%d. -per pound, since the freight, commission, insurance, and other charges are ' estimated to amount to abo;d 14s. per cwt. The Imperial authorities may have based the price on the willingness of the factories to accept B%d. when the Government purchase was under discussion earliei in the season. The situation is causing some concern to exporters, who assume, that the action of the Imperial Government will involve the cancellation, of some contracts already made with factories in expectation of an open market in the United Kingdom .
