Captain E. T Rupert Carlvon. of the Sherwood Foresters, who is an old Wanganui College boy, and whose mother re;ides in Napier, is a prisoner of war at tlu- Kreigsgefanenan Husaren Kasamc at Crefeld, Germany. lie lias lost an eye and has suffered very severely from expesure. Before lie was captured lie l.ty in a trench for 36 hours, while snow was falling all the night, and contracted j <e\ere inflammation of the lungs. Sirs. Horsnell, of New Plymouth, has received a kindly letter from Assistant Matron K. A. Al'lsop, of the Gth General Hospital. France, in regard to her son, Sergt. W. Horsnell, who was badly wjuiided. The letter is as follows and is much appreciated, as showing the intere.;t taken in cur soldiers in the Army Hospitals:—"l am very grieved to tell you that your son has been shot very scverely. He is sulTering from head injui'.es and is in a critical condition. You are so far away, but be shall have every loving care and attention that we can cive him, and though we are most anx'ous about iiiin you will know we are fighting for his life for you." Since receiving the. letter a cable has been received from Sergt. Horsnell's father. Captain Horsnell, stating that the former is at Southamptan and is now much better.
