ADIEU "PANTHEIST."

Sir,—Your renders will lie able to appraise the "scurrility" of my tongue ami pen. and the beautifully chasU'diction and decorous epithet.-; of my friend "Pantheist." Fortunately f possess the slaving sense, of humor, and "Pantheist's" latest effusion, notwithstanding the reiterated advice of "Mr. K„, makes me smile audibly. When he gets away from the very accurate personal description, which all my friends will recognise as a perfect portrait, he falls into two errors. He says I once posed as ;\ prophet. I did not; 1 only saw 11 mirage. He further says that I said I would eat any Kabaiistie book in existence. I did nothing of the kind I said, "Produce the Ancient Book of Kabala and I will eat it." I was perfectly safe to say that, for there is no Ancient Book of Kabala, ami yet unlearned friend comes up smiling with a thing which he says is the "Book of Sapbah," and asks me to exercise my gastronomic powers upon it, but I know the difference between roast beef and Irish stew if he doesn't. Neither his much-prized Kosmon Bible, nor the book of Sapbah, nor the book of Mormon, nor any other literary gem of a like nature; is the book of Kabala . The fa,ct ibat he can read the book of Sapbah is proof that it is not even remotely connected with the Ancient Kabala. The picture of my friend "Pantheist" presenting some modern ebullition of foolishness, and asking me to eat it, is too funny for words. I happen to know the name ami number of "Pantheist" and shall not notice any further wanderings in the paths of foolishness.—l am, etc., J. G. ELLIS.
