HIGH SCHOOL BOARD.
! lIONTIIIA' .MEETING. A meeting of the, New Plymouth High School Board of Governors was held last evening. Present: Messrs. D. Ilutehon (in the chair), H. Trimble, E. P. Webster, J. S. Fox, L. C. Sladden, S. C!. Smith, T. G. lfirst, R. W. D. Robertson, and F. W. Atkinson Complaint was made regarding the condition of forms recently supplied to the Girls' High School. It was decided that the payment of the account be deferred until the forms are put in order. It was also resolved to instruct the Board's architect to inspect future supplies of furniture ffSko to tlie Board taking delivery. Miss iJiirr, Principal of the Girls' High School, reported that, the roll number of the secondary department was the same as that for last month—--73. Two additional pupils Jittd been enrolled in the iPreparatory School. On the motion of the chairman, a donation of £lO was made to the Girls' High School for the purchase of prizes. The Board resolved to employ a man on three days a, week in keeping the grounds of the Girls' High School in order. The secretary reported that lie had received no reply from the Education Department to a letter written on October 20, asking for a grant in connection with the re-erection of the Boys' High School. In connection with the effort made to assist boys who lost property in the High School lire, the headmaster (Mr. W. IJ. Moves) reported that he had now in hand the sum of £B7. Of this sum £4O l'9s. had been forwarded by the secretary of the Citizens' Band, | and the balance had been forwarded J privately, {if the amount collected, £2O had been allotted to the Camera I Club.
The Board expressed its congratulations upon the succe_ss of the rille-shoot-ing teams from the Boys' High School in securing first place jn both the Senior and Junior Imperial Challenge Shield Competitions, also third place in tile Senior Competition. A vote of thanks Was passed to Colonel Schu maoher, who has intimated that he is adding an extra £2O to the prizemoney, in recognition of the success achieved by the boys. On Mr. Mctyes' request, a grant of £lO was made for the purpose of meeting the cost of a prospectus and illustrations in the next issue of the Boys' School Magazine. The Board agreed to advertise freely in connection with the new Girls' High School and boarding-house.
