BREACHES OP BY-LAWS. Charges of breaches of tho Borough by-laws wore dealt with by Messrs. F C. Bcllringor and A. S. Booker, J.'sP., in the Magistrate's Court yesterday. The charges wore made on the information of the Boroug'-i inspector. The defendants did not appear. Christopher Bayley was charged with driving a moto-eyele along Devon street on October 24 at an excessive rate of spec/l. The inspector, in giving evidence, estimated that the speed at which defendant drove his machine was at least 50 miles an hour. The defendant had admitted to witness that the machine was driven at 30 miles an hour. The speed limit was 15 miies. A fine of 15s was imposed. Penalties of 10s each were inflicted on Ronald Greiner, John Johnston, and George Bruce for riding motor-bicycles at night without sufficient lights. Eric Norman Bellringer was charged with driving a horse and gig in Devon road at night without sufficient lights. '•First' offence*" asked the s-enior justice. "No, fifth for tho same thing," was tho inspector's reply. Fined £1 2s Cd, with costs. Henry Derby was charged with driving round the corner from Devon street to Liardet street at an excessive speed. Witness described defendant's action as exceedingly dangerous to others using tiic road. Fined £l.
