HARBOR BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. The New (Plymouth -Harbor Board met yesterday. Present: Msssrs J. B. I'onnett (chairman), Newton King, E. Dijckrill, J. McCluggage, C. E. Bellringer, C. A. Wilkinson, M.P., D. J. Hughes and E. Maxwell. The foreman of works (Mr. F. Henderson) reported that during the month eiuleit November 11 the Paritntu dredg-i-4 o*n 10 days ,the net time worked be|ing 1(5!) hours, and removed a total [ quantity of 30 loads of spoil, equal to 14,-100 tons. Of this quantity, 20 loads were taken from the first basin cut with the buckets in 128 hours, and 10 loads were taken from the fairway with the sand-pump in 'l3 hours. The' first basin cut was now completed at 25ft depth for its full length outward to the point of convergance with the fairway. The deepening of the second basin cut was commenced on November 11, working from the end of the wharf inwards. Dredging had been :onsiderably delayed owing to the prevalence of northerly winds. The Thomas King dredged on 14 days, the net time worked being 102 hours, and was occupied foi 20 hours in lifting boulders, Eighty-one loads of spoil equal to 6480 tons, were removed. The harbormaster (Captain. William Waller) reported that during the four weeks ending November 11, 17 steamsliips, aggregating 16,8.88 tons, arrived at the Breakwater. The inward cargo amounted to 4357 tons, including 710 tons of coal for private use. The exports for the same period amounted to 2397 tons, making a total of 6754 tons handled. The hiirboi was sounded during favorable weather conditions no November 10 and 13. A CONCESSION APPLIED FOR, The Ngamotu Beautifying Society asked the Board to allow it to remove 80 yards of gravel from the beach free of royalty. The question arose as to whether the concession was not being made on behalf of the contractors doing work for the Society. The matter was deferred until next meeting, pending further enquiries.
