I SIX TO NINE TORPEDOERS. GERMAN LOSSES IN GULF OF FINLAND. Keceived Nov. 17, 10 p.m. Petrograd, Nov. 17. An Admiralty communique states: It is estimated that during the raid on the Gulf of Finland, on the 13th inst., the Germans lost from six to nine of their largest end most modern torpedocrs. The wreckage confirms the estimate. THE DEUTSCHLAND. Received Nov. 18, 12.45 a.m. New York-, Nov. 1?, The Deutschland has sailed. 'LATEST TORPEDOINGS. Received Nov. 18, 12.55 a.m. . London, Nov. 17. The latest torpedoings include the British vessel Matarazzo, 2823 tons, and the American ship A Davidsoii, 1040 tons; the Norwegian steamer Lokken, 1954 tons; the Greek vessels Stylianiberis, 3003 tons,- and Barboria, 2831 tons. GERMAN MENDACITY,' London, Nov., IG. A Berlin official .message says:—A German submarine sunk by a torpedo on the oth a hostile 'transport of 12,000 tons eight sea miles west of Malta. The British Admiralty states that this announcement is mi obvious attempt to explain away the outrageous and inhuman act of torpedoing a mail steamer without warning. The only ship sunk in the Mediterranean on the Cth'was the Aiabia, which was sunk 300 miles east of Malta. t AMERICA DETAINS VESSELS. Now York, Nov. 18. Because it is armed for defensive purposes the State Department is considering whether to allow the departure for Dunedin of the New Zealand steamer Rimutaka earrving a cargo worth £200,000. Numbers of passengers by the British steamer Torvandu, ex Birkenhead, bound for New Orleans, are also detained.
