OPEXIXG OF WEST END GEE EX. Although tli3 weather of late lias made bowling greens- heavy, the West End Club did all that was. possible to .'jet their green in good going order for the openine day yesterday, the consequence being that though slow the green was true, conducing to good play. Owing to otliei outdoor functions the attendance yesterday was not up to the average of former years, byt there were a number of ladies, and the green presented a cheerful and animated appearance. He hoped that bowlers would have a successful and enjoyable season, and after Mr.-. Sole had thrown the jade, followed up by the delivery of a bowl, the green was declared open for the season. One of the Fitzroy visitors cordially thanked the president for his welcome, and the club for their hospitality.
