THE MELBOURNE CUP., ■DISCUSSION AS TO CONDITIONS.
Sydney, Nov. 16. . :Sasaribft's Cup victory has " aroused a discussion as to the conditions of the race. Some consider that the whole question of .handicapping three-year-olds should be revised, pointing out that if a three-year-old is'capable of winning at weight-for-age, and is handicapped below that scale in the Cup, the weight should be Teadjusted. Sasanoff was handicapped at fist. 111b. in the Cup, Mb. less than the weight-for-age scale. She carried -Cst. 121b., including lib. overweight. A month earlier she won the Spring Stakes, at weight-for-age, carrying 7st. 41b.
In the action in which James Robinson, bookmaker, questioned t: e validity of the Australian Jockey Club's regulation under which .plaintiff's registration was rescinded because he operated at an unregistered meeting on a dsto when a registered meeting was held, the Court upheld the club's ruling.
