Ernest Croot, Now Plymouth, was ordered to pay William Rowe £3 lis 9d forthwith, in default three days' imprisonment, the warrant to be sua pended so long as defendant pays 53 per week in l ; quidatiou of tiie debt. !'A DISPUTED CLAIM. vYilliam Nichols sought to recover from William Humphries ;he sum of £1 I4s, the value of copies of the Auckland Weekly News alleged to have been supplied to defendant. Tho plaintiff gave evidence that he delivered the papers regularly to the defendant at the latter's office !.i Brougham street. '.'.'lie defendant said ho was never at the office during the time referred to bv plaintiff and had never received the papers. He had countermanded his order for them, and had told defendant he would not pay for any more. The contradictory nature of evidence caused the Magistrate to remark that it was utterly impossible to get at the truth of the matter. He non-suited plaintiff.
