By a unanimous and record rote at a special church meeting last night, a call was given to the Rev. A. C. Seivewright to the pastorate of the New Plymouth Baptist Church, Mr. Frank Armstrong, of Akitio station, Hawke's Bay, the well-known sportsman, ha; enlisted for service abroad, and will 'proceed Ito Samoa shortly wit'h the rank of sergeant, in charge of horses. Mr. Harold Beauchamp, .chairman of directors of the Bank of New Zealand, who left Auckland on June 13 last, on a vi9it to Canada and the United States of America, returned to Xew Zealand by the Niagara on Sunday. Mr. Beauchamp was accompanied by his wife and daughter. Mr. J. S. fl. Sountree, who has been on the staff of the Auckland Savings Bank for forty years, and for the past four years has been manager of tho institution, has been granted twelve months' leave of absence prior to his retirement. Mr. J. M. Barr, the accountant, has been appointed actingmanager. Since Mr. Rountree entered the service, the amount to the credit of depositors has risen from £103.000 to over , £2,000,000.
