CORRESPONDENCE
A NATIONAL FLOWEI!. To the Editor. Sir,—ln noticing the various suggestions regarding a. national, flower for New Zealand, it appears that sufficient importance is not being given to the eolor. lam quite sure that not one of tho=e who have made suggestions favoring the beautiful yellow kowhai have taken into consideration the fact (li»t the <o!or, yellow, is one of the nafonal colors of our arch-enemy, Cierrhany, and there are very many homes throughout New Zealand that bear sorrowful evidence of their connection with German;'' through the war, and nothing should be adopted in color, name, "or anything else, that would tend to bring sad memories. I would suggest that a flower symbolical of the good old Union Jack, either red, white, or blue, should be adopted as our national flower, the choice of which to be left to a representative council of the Victoria League for Xew Zealand I am, etc., . ~ ' ■-■•' f '~ r -' PATRIOT.
