Mr. S. Turner, of Lower Hutt, well known in Taranaki, playing for the Gilford Cup at the Lower" Hutt Golf Club, beat all previous records of that golf course by a perfectly played G8 (bogie 75). He was eight up onvbogi? with only two strokes. Went out in 33 and came home in 30, missing several suort putts The score was:—

3, 4, 3, 4, 4, 4, 3, 4, 4—33 out. ■l, 5, 3, 3, S, 5, 5, 4, 3—33 in. This enables him to win the Wilford Cup for the present year. The conditions of the Wilford Cup are the best six cards for the whole season which competition ended on C'-tober 31. This score was done on the 30th, and is, therefore, an official record, as while playing for the Wilford Cup, which he won by 19 up—l2 up being tin: next best six cards. It is remarkable to note that Mr. Turner did not lose one hole to bogie. This may be a recdfci for any course in New Zealand. /
