Mr. Baker expressed his regret at leaving, and'said it was due to serious illness. The Mayor (Mr. C. H. Burgess) in moving the aci ccptanee of the resignation, said he wa? extremely sorry Mr. Baker had to leave. Ho was a very efficient clerk, and had done his work'to the entire satisfaction of the Town Clerk. The resignation was accepted with regret.

On behalt of the Pukerangiorn tribe (Waitara), a presentation of a wristlet watch was made yesterday to "Mr. Kuril Ereatara.. of the New Plymouth oiliee of the Public Trustee, who leaves to-mor-row for Narrow Neck Camp. "Mr. Atua, in addressing the recipient, said: "You are leaving here to uphold the traditions of the Maori, to take your place in the firing line, and, on behalf of the Pukerangiora tribe, I hare much pleasure in presenting you with .this wristlet watch as a small token of the esteem in which you are held by our tribe. We hope that lit some future time we will see you back in New Zealand, as fit and well in health and strength as you are today."

On Saturday afternoon Mr. E. A. Wills, who has been for about twelve years a member of the staff of the Star, and who is about to leave to undertake the practice of his profession on his own account, was farewelled by the proprietors, and presented with a cheque from the firm, and also one from Mr. W. A. Parkinson. On behalf of the firm Messrs. Walker /and Page, in the unavoidable absence of Mr. Parkinson, expressed their appreciation of the valued work done by Mr. Wills during his long term of servfee with the Star, their sincere regret at his leaving, and their best and warmest wishes for. his future welfare. Mr. Wills briefly acknowledged the presentations and the kind wishes expressed.—Star.
