LAWN TENNIS.

riRONGA CLUR, The annual meeting of the Tironga Tennis Club was held on Tuesday evening, Mr. V. Griffiths presiding. the chairman (Mr. V. Griffiths) remarked that the support the dub had received last year was not so good as had been expected. This was large!/ due to tlie war. Mr. Griffiths' said several members had joined the Expeditionary Force, while others felt unable to take an active part in any form of sport during the war. Mr. Griffiths was of opinion this was a mistake. . He considered those left behind should l keep themselves as fit as they possibly, could. He hoped those present would do all they could to increase the membership. The secretary and treasurer (Mi. G. YV. Browne) submitted the financial statement, which showed that the assets balanced liabilities. '■ It was unanimously decided to keep all member? who had joined the Expeditionary Forces financial on the books of the tlub. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Mr. Browne and Mr. • Grilliths for donations of £2 each, represented in debentures handed back to the club. Mr. Griffiths was re-elected president for the ensuing year, and Mr. Browne was re-elected secretary and treasurer. The appointment of committee iras deferred until a subsequent meeting. The subscriptions were fixed ut 15s for men, 10s for ladies, and' 5s for juniors. ItTwas reported 1 that quite a number of new members would be joining the club during the ensuing year. The >Tew Zealand Tennis Association passed a resolution to hold in trust the nujflifj (some. £75) collected for a Wilding memorial fund until the time was more opportune for satisfactorily carrying out the object of the fund. — iPress Association.
