The German press assert that tho Soimne crisis is over, and that the German front; is now invulnerable, the Anglo-French being no longer superior in guns and munitions OXLY ARTILLERY WORK. London, Oct. SI. Sir Douglas Haig says there was nothing to report during the night, evcept intermittent shelling on both sides Received Nov. 1, 10 p.m. London, Nov. 1. General Sir Douglas Haig reports:— We bombarded the lines in the neighbourhood of the Hohenzollern Reooubt and La Bassee Canal. There was considerable hostile shelling of Hebutemc, also around the Stuff and Schwaben Redoubts. J ?arls, Oct. 31." A communique states:—Except for lively artillery actions at Douaumont and Vaux, there is nothing important to report. XHE PRESCRIBED FORMULA London, Oct. 31. 'A German communique says:—We drove back the enemy north-eust and east of Les Boeufs. The French attacks at La Maisonette, on our new trenches south of Biaches, at Albaincourl, and on both sides of the Chaulnes-L ! pons Road, all failed.
