NEW EDUCATION DISTRICTS.
TARANAKI-WANGANUI ADJUSTMENTS. At yesterday's meeting of the Taranaki Education Board the report of the committee appointed to confer with the Wangatiui Board relative to the adjustment of accounts, chiefly with regard to the Wangnnui Board's liability for reinstalment of worh-out buildings, was submitted. In moving the adoptiqn of the report (the details of which have already been published), the chairman stated that the estimates of the overseer of the amount to be claimed for the Wanganui Board ( £4100) was based on the present price of materials and labor, whereas the departmental grant had been made on the basis of prices at the time of the erection of the buildings, so that the committee's recommendations had been made on the basis of prices at the time of the erection of the buildings, and the committee had agreed to accept £2OOO. , Mr. Trimble objected not only to the basis adopted, but to the extended time of payment. After some discussion, in which it was suggested that the adjustment should bo finally settled by the department, the report was adopted, Messrs. Trimble' and Smith dissenting. The Rev. A. B. Chappell moved '-'That the Department be asked to furnish the board with a statement of the Wanganui Board's liability with regard to the re-building of schools taken over by the Tannaki Board." , The motion was carried.
