PUKEKURA PARK.

KVEXIXG DECORATIONS. The appearance of the larse Iftkfc in Pukekura Park under the colored electric illuminations 011 Monday night was very suggestive of a night scene in Venice. A local resident who has travelled throughout the woild informed a News reporter yesterday that he was much impressed with, the likeness, lie offered ft number of suggestions as to how night effects at the lake could bo considerably enhanced. Electric lights, lie said, should be suspended right round tlio lake, the different colored globes being so arranged as to blend tastefully and to provide a line, rainbow eft'eot. in the''water. "Poet's Bridge" lent itself particularly to decoration, and Chinese lanterns should be suspended from the arches of the structure. The addition of a- boat built after the design of a Venetian gondola and propelled in the same way, would be an effective acquisition to the park plant. The scene of a gondola, prettily illuminated, gliding quietly over the surface of the lake would 'bo one that would add immeasurably to the attraction of the Park. An evening promenade, with the band flaying on the stand and the lake illuminated as suggested, would 'bo an attraction of unsurpassed loveliness.
