SUCCESS AT DOBRUDJA.
Amsterdam, October. 23. A Bulgar communique states: We have completely broken the enemy resistance m the Dobrudja.
London, October 23. A German communique states:—Wo Captured s(ii) Roumanians at the Predeal Pas-. \Vi> have crossed far beyond the railway in the Dobrudja, east of Nurfatlar, and the loit wing is approaching Uernavoda. The enemy has been forced to assume the defensive on the Ccrna salient.

GREAT SERBIAN SUCCESS
Reuter Service. London, October 23. A French official report from Salonika says that large forces of Bulgars violently counter-attacked the Serbs on October 1!). Desperate fighting all day ended in complete success for the Serbs, who drove back the enemy everywhere with the heaviest losses.
RUSSIAN REPORT. London, October 23. A Russian communique says:—The forced the enemy- to retire from the Trotus, Outuz and Slanio valleys. Roumanian successes continue on the west front of Moldavia. The Russians and Roumanians are retiring and stubbornly resisting in the Dobrudja.
RETIREMENT ON THE DOBRUDJA,
London, October 23. A Roumanian communique saym— There is violent fighting in the Dobrudja. We retired immediately south of the Ccrnavada-Constanza railway. The enemy retired in the Trotus Valley. A correspondent at the Serb headquarters reports that the Serb offensive has been temporarily brought to a standstill by the weather and large Bulgar reinforcements.
FALKENHAYN'S OPERATIONS. London. October 23. A New York World dispatch from Mr. von Weigand, who is with the Germans on the Roumanian frontier, says that von Falkonhayn's army has a front of 200 miles in Transylvania and is striving to tighten its grip on the mountain passes into Roumania. It is advancing in three columns through the Toerzburger, Tomoes and Prcdeal passes towards Bucharest, which is SO miles distant, also through the, Arischan pass. The German left wing is 65 miles north of Kronstadt, and is endeavoring to cut off Russian support from reaching the Roumanians through the .Palanka pass.

NEW LOAN TO BRITAIN AN INTERNMENT SCHE'J. 'PRISONERS TO GO TO NEUTP.AUS. Times Serviced Received Oct. 25, 1.35 a.nij New York, Oct. 24. A new American'loan to the British Government will shortly be announced. It, may exceed fifty millions sterling. The New York Times gives prominence to a correspondent's suggestion that America and oilier nations draw up a plan for the purpose of internment in neutral countries of all prisoners of war, thus relieving the belligerents of war prisoners, who total 2% millions.
HUGHES JEOPARDISES HIS CHANCES. New York, October 23. A sensation has been caused by the publication of the minutes of a secret meeting of the American Independence Conference, an organisation of prominent anti-British Irish-Americans' and German-Americans, at which a report was received of an ultimatum presented to Mr. Hughes, demanding that lie should attack Groat Britain in a public speech in exchange for their election support. Mr. Hughes admits that he conferred •with them, but denies that he entered into an agreement, although the IrishAmericans and German-Americans consider that an agreement was made. The Republican managers "are fearful that the revelation may seriously jeopardise Mr. Hughes' chances of election.

OASES SWEPT. London, October 23. A War Office report from Egypt says: The camel corps, with armored cars, swept the Daehlag and Baharia oases. There were no casualties.

GENEROUS RED CKOSS GIFT. London, October 23, Ontario lias sent her first donation of £250,000 for the British Red Cross Society. It is expected that the total will reach £400,000 a year.
